Continuity Editing Techniques

In my continuity task we had to include; match on action, eye line match, 180 degrees rule and master shot. We used match on action when the girl walks through the door to go and sit down as we made the actions flow together so it looks real and doesn’t look as if its being cut randomly and so the door closed seamlessly and the person wasn’t jumping from place to place whilst walking. We used eye line match during conversation between two people as one person asks a question and is looking in the other persons direction and then it shows the person that they were talking to, this helps the audience to understand what’s going on. We had the 180 degree rule through out the task you can mainly see it when the people are sitting at opposite sides of the table so the shot doesn’t change and confuse the audience. We used the master shot which was the mid-long shot of the two girls sitting at the table, this set the scene for the audience.
